Man beaten to death near Nagercoil

NAGERCOIL: A 52-year-old man who tried to solve a family dispute was beaten to death at Keezha Manakudy fishermen hamlet near Nagercoil on Thursday.Police said Lawrence alias Rajamoni of Keezha Manakudy had two sons and four daughters, all of whom were married. Lawrence passed away recently and the eighth day rites were performed on Wednesday at his house. After the function, Dinesh and one of his sisters, Radhika, had a verbal duel over who should take possession of Lawrence’s house. As the quarrel intensified, Dinesh asked his maternal uncles -- Dison, Napoleon and Baby Lajislal -- to intervene.  But soon the situation went out of control with Radhika’s relatives attacking her maternal uncles with lethal weapons and beating them up as well. Dison died on reaching the hospital.
