Maoists shot dead a man suspecting him to be a police informer and torched two vehicles and three drilling machines.

Chaibasa (Jharkhand): Maoists shot dead a man suspecting him to be a police informer and torched two vehicles and three drilling machines belonging to private steel major Tata Steel in East Singhbhum district, police said.

A group of the ultras on Monday set on fire two four-wheelers, one water tanker and three drilling machines in Sankura, about 11 km from Chotanagra police station in East Singhbhum district, said, Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh.

Singh said the vehicles were engaged in a mining survey of Tata Steel in the forest area where the incident took place.

Security personnel rushed to the spot and launched a combing operation to track down the culprits, he said.

Meanwhile, police sources said the Maoists have also shot dead a villager in Tubil village under Chotanagra police station last night.

The rebels shot dead one Sushil Aiyan allegedly for being a police informer, sources said.
