THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The two-day Mental Health Day observance organised by the Mental Health Department of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College concluded with a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme held at the Department on Monday. College Principal Dr Ramadas Pisharody inaugurated the programme, in which biological, psychological and sociological aspects of mental health were discussed. Around 50 persons, including doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, medical students and volunteers of the Mahila Samakhya Society attended the programme. Earlier, the two-day public interaction programme as part of the observance held at Rajaji Nagar Colony concluded on Sunday. The concluding ceremony was marked by lighting of lamps at houses in the colony. The programmes included an exhibition, documentary and cinema screenings, counselling by expert doctors and discussions. The programmes were organised in association with Manasa, an NGO working in the field of mental health, Mahila Samakhya Society, Vocational Higher Secondary National Service Scheme and Venad Guild of Psychiatrists. Councillor G Harikumar presided over the valedictory meeting. Mayor K Chandrika inaugurated the continuing programme on mental health, titled ‘Vibhavanam’, at the colony. State Women’s Commission chairperson D Sreedevi delivered the Mental Health Day message.
