BANGALORE: Call us old fashioned, but the culture and tradition of the Rangoli has become the identification of the one of the most modern machinery of the city - Namma Metro.Few people know that the Namma Metro logo has been inspired by a simple Rangoli, which is used as an auspicious symbol in  households. The logo, was designed by Jayanth Jain and Mahendra Kumar, who are now part of a private design studio.   “Rangoli has been intrinsic to Bangalore’s culture as its greenery. With the explosion in vehicle population, it had to take a backseat, and faced the prospect of being lost forever. We wanted to revive this traditional art while depicting the seamless, continuous connectivity of the Metro covering all parts of the city, and it became the inspiration for the Logo,” said Jayanth.“But the feeling of satisfaction we get knowing the Logo is all over the city and very close to millions of Bangalore hearts is incomparable. We hope the Metro will eventually reduce the vehicles in the city, and restore the glory of our Rangoli once again,” added Mahendra. Namma Rangoli for Namma Metro seems to be the most apt tribute to our tradition and culture as we embrace modern technology and surge into the future, they said.
