Mhow Case: All 6 Accused Of Assaulting Army Officer, Raping Woman Friend In Indore Arrested
In the preliminary interrogation, two of the accused confessed the crime of raping the woman in Indore's Mhow district on September 11.

The Madhya Pradesh Police on Friday arrested three men accused of attacking two young Army officers and raping their female friend near Indore district’s Mhow, said an officer, adding that all the six accused are now in custody.

“It’s an isolated stretch and many people may have encountered similar incidents and not reported them. The accused persons are being questioned on these lines,” the officer added.

The six accused assaulted the two young Army officers and raped one of their two women friends at a tourist destination located 30 km from Mhow military cantonment in the early hours of September 11, claimed the police.

“A departmental inquiry has been ordered against the two trainee (Army) officers. It is in progress and is being headed by a senior officer,” an Army officer from Mhow was quoted as saying by PTI.

The initial probe revealed that two Army officers and their two women friends arrived at the tourist spot at 11 pm on Tuesday. All of them were listening to loud music in the deserted area, said police, adding that on hearing the music late in the night, the six accused reached the spot and committed the crime.

Congress Politicises Mhow Crime

The Madhya Pradesh Congress on Friday claimed that some BJP workers and their aides were behind the crime that took place in Mhow. The BJP, however, refuted claims and slammed the Congress for spreading ‘false perception’ on the sensitive issue.

MP Congress chief Jitu Patwari said, “Behind the Mhow incident, the names of BJP workers, their relatives and also kin of other party leaders have cropped up… It shows that there is a rule of mafia and rapists, and others are indulging in such acts without any fear of government.”

Reacting to the statement, state BJP chief VD Sharma said that the investigation into the matter will not leave anyone found guilty. “Congress is trying to build a false perception on the issue. If any predator is found involved in such crimes, the government will not spare them,” he said.
