The price of milk in the state is all set for a hike, thanks to rising cattle feed prices. A decision in this regard will be taken at the director board meeting of the Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (Milma) on September 27.
A meeting will be held with Minister for Rural Development K C Joseph and the Milma officials on Wednesday to discuss the issue. Reports suggest that the price of milk may be increased by `5 to `7 per litre. However, the Milma officials declined to comment on the rates.
Milma chairman P T Gopala Kurup said that the price hike is inevitable as the body has incurred a loss of around `8 crore till September. The last price hike of milk in the state was on September 5, 2011, when the price was raised by `5 per litre.
