VISAKHAPATNAM: Though rains got delayed by almost two months with dry spells in June and July, Andhra Pradesh has reached normal rainfall stage by Wednesday due to the current spells of rain.At an average, the entire state has received 115-120 per cent of rainfall which is considered normal.The trough that has been continuing for several days from Vidarbha, east Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh is leading to good rains in Telangana for the last couple of weeks.Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra regions are also receiving good rain since the last one week.As catchment areas in neighbouring states like Maharastra and Odisha are also receiving heavy rain, water level in the main reservoirs has gone up.“The current climatic conditions will continue for some more days.A low pressure has been formed between south Odisha and north coastal Andhra Pradesh and its neighbourhood.An upper air cyclonic circulation has been prevailing over Odisha, Chattisgarh to south Tamil Nadu.Meanwhile, a trough over Vidarbha, east Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh is resulting in all the three regions receiving good rains with isolated heavy rains,” a senior scientist of Cyclone Warning Centre, he told Express.There was no further development on Tuesday’s low pressure.However, due to upper air cyclonic circulation, wide spread rains have been predicted in coastal Andhra Pradesh.Isolated heavy rain in the north coastal Andhra region and at a few places in south coastal Andhra Pradesh is expected in the coming two days.Heavy rains are also predicted in Telangana and Rayalaseema regions in next 48 hours as the strong trough is continuing in and around the region.CM CONDUCTS REVIEW MEETHyderabad: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday asked officials to take all precautionary measures to prevent any loss of life and damage to property due to rains.At a review meeting with top officials from various departments here, he asked the district collectors to constantly monitor the situation and evacuate people residing in low-lying areas if needed.Health officials were asked to ensure that seasonal diseases or epidemics did not break out in the rain-affected areas, particularly in the tribal areas.
