BANGALORE: The state information commission will get a building of its own with the Centre giving its administrative approval recently. “The state government has given its approval and released Rs 2.50 crore. We are expecting the funds from the Centre after which the construction will start,” government sources told Express here on Tuesday. The proposed building could be named Mahiti Hakku Soudha and will come up in an area of about 3-4 acre behind the Udyoga Soudha, which houses the office of the Karnataka Public Service Commission. Designed by government’s chief architect Uday for Rs 15 crore which will be equally shared by Centre and the state, the exterior and interior of the building will be in tune with aesthetics, culture and grandeur of the Vidhana Soudha, Vikasa Soudha and the Udyoga Soudha. It is proposed to have three floors apart from the ground floor and one cellar, for parking space. The building will contain 10 court halls, 10 chambers, each for six information commissioners and one chief information commissioner. The other three chambers are for the secretariat of the commission. The information commission is now functioning from one of the five blocks in the M S building.
