New Pushpanjali Swamiyar installed

THIRUVANANATHAPURAM: The 47th Pushpanjali Swamiyar of Munchira Madom was installed at a ritualistic ceremony held at the Rangavilasom Palace near the Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple here on Monday. Vasudeva Brahmananda Theertha Swamiyar of Thrikaikattu Madom gave ‘Sanyasa deeksha’ and ‘Mahavakyopadesham’ to Thirumaleswaran Potty,  the new Swamiyar.Kaimukku Vaidikan Raman Somayajipad announced the installation of the new Swamiyar. Azhvancherry Krishnan Thamprakkal, supreme head of Namboodiri Brahmins in the state, Uthradom Thirunal Marthanda Varma, head of the Travancore royal family, eminent Veda scholars from across the state and hundreds of devotees witnessed the function. The Swamiyars of Munchira and Naduvil Madoms perform the ‘pushpanjali’ ritual in the Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple. The position of Munchira Madom Swamiyar was being temporarily held by Sankarananda Brahmananda Bhoothi after the demise of Choozhikunnam Swamiyar in 2004. Thirumaleswaran Potty hails from Kariavattom here. The installation ceremony was organised under the aegis of Arsha Sanathana Dharma Parishath. The Dharma Samsad held after the installation rituals was inaugurated by Uthradom Thirunal Marthanda Varma. Munchira Madom manager Subrahmanian Potty welcomed the gathering. Guruvayoor Sree Krishna Temple thantri Chennas Dineshan Namboodiri inaugurated the valedictory meeting. Prof K K Sankaran Namboodiri welcomed the gathering and Thekkedathu Raman Bhattathirippad presided over the function.Puthillam Ramanujan Akkithirippad, Prasad Varma Thampuran, Kerala Varma Thampuran and Pandal Vaidikan Damodaran Namboodiri, Subrahmanian Namboodiri, Pradeep Jyothi, Babu Contractor, V K Harikumar, E Rajan and Madhavacharyan Bodhisatwan offered felicitations.
