Newcastle Disease: Crows found dead

ROURKELA: Mysterious death of nearly three dozen crows has led to fears of breakout of Ranikhet Disease also known as Newcastle Disease. Sources said around 16 crows were spotted dead in Bonai and another 19 in Sundargarh town on Wednesday. To check the disease from spreading among the poultry and other bird population the Sundargarh district administration has stepped up measures.The CDVO was instructed to collect samples of dead crows and send them for examination. Five teams led by the CDVO have been pressed into service to vaccinate poultry fowls.District Collector Rupa Roshan Sahu said district’s transport regulatory and the animal husbandry authorities have been instructed to restrict trade in poultry.
