BANGALORE: Government officials themselves are facing bureaucratic hurdles between various departments to complete civic work in the city leading to unnecessary delays and inconvenience to public. A case in point being the work undertaken in Dairy Circle.
The residents living near Dairy Circle and motorists using the Hosur Road junction are enraged to find the newly laid road dug up by Karnataka Power Transmission and Corporation Limited for cable laying. The Siddapura corporator Udayshankar said this is unacceptable and informed TNIE that he has decided to take the issue up at the council meeting and would write a letter to KPTCL demanding an explanation.

"It was only in January that with difficulty various agencies were brought together to complete civic works to provide amenities to Siddapura and surrounding areas. The traffic department gave us 20 days to finish work as it was a thoroughfare witnessing heavy vehicular movement," explains Udayshankar.

But KPTCL officials are saying they have no choice. Executive Engineer Prahald defends that work was taken up by KPTCL to lay 220 KV high tension under ground cables in front of NIMHANS when traffic was closed but another part remained incomplete.

The work now would take another three months to complete as permission given by Palike expired on Monday and has to be renewed in order complete the work.
