THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has agreed to open its offices that are required for NH land acquisition in the state, Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said on Wednesday. This is on the condition that the State Government will pay the salary of the NHAI staff required for land acquisition in the state, the Minister said.After land acquisition for NH works had stalled, the NHAI had shut its offices. Wednesday’s decision is the outcome of discussions between the NHAI and the government. Land needed for developing the national highways will be acquired as per the conditions set in the new resettlement and rehabilitation package, the Minister said.The government has also decided to convene a meeting on November 8 to discuss land issues related to Idukki district.
