Nitish Sets Target to Construct Toilets in Villages by 2019
The Rural Development Department had presented work plan of next four year on construction of toilets in a bid to make villages 'open defecation free'.

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday set a target to complete construction of toilets in rural areas and make villages 'open defecation free' by 2019.

The Chief Minister set the target for state's Rural Development Department after watching a presentation on work plan prepared in this regard, an official statement said.

The Rural Development Department had presented work plan of next four year on construction of toilets in a bid to make villages 'open defecation free'.

It was decided to engage self help groups and their members for the purpose.

The presentation highlighted the work could be achieved by alloting responsibility to the Block Development Officers under leadership of district magistrates to make the campaign successful.

After watching the presentation, the Chief Minister directed the department to complete the work by 2019, the statement added.

Rural Development minister Shrawan Kumar, Panchayati Raj minister Kapildeo Kamat, Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh and Development Commissioner Shishir Sinha were present on the occasion.

Construction of toilet forms part of Chief Minister's "seven resolves" which have been adopted by the grand secular alliance as policy of governance for next five year.
