HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has told people of the Old City they should not feel they are being neglected by the government. He added they were planning to start several development projects to bring the Old City on par with other developed parts.Addressing a meeting after laying the foundation stone for renovation of the heritage building of Nizamia Tibbi College and Nizamia General Hospital for Rs 4 crore, the chief minister said more developmental projects will be taken up.“On a single day, I inaugurated some projects and also laid foundation stones for a parking and sports complex in the Old City, all costing Rs 55 crore. This shows the government is committed for development of the Old City,” he said.“At the same time, we are also striving to develop the entire city by creating necessary infrastructure to turn it into a modern city. Through the 100-days days programme, civic departments like the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Central Power Distribution Company Ltd have taken up various developmental works to the tune of Rs 600 crore,” said Kiran Kumar Reddy.The chief minister accompanied by ministers M Maheedhar Reddy, Mukesh Goud, Danam Nagender, MP Asaduddin Owaisi and others, inaugurated a water distribution plant at Riyasathnagar. The Rs 15.10 crore project will help in improving water pressure during distribution, equitable distribution of water and stabilised water supply.The areas that will benefit include Rajnarasimha Nagar, Moinbagh, Rajaiah Thota, Rakshapuram, Arundhati Nagar, Riyasath Nagar, Habeeb Nagar, Jamal Colony, Hydernagar, Indira Nagar, Ghouse Nagar and Dargah Baranshah.He also laid the foundation stone for the first e-library in the city at Barkas costing Rs 50 lakh. The e-library will function round-the-clock, provide multiple access, information retrieval and other facilities.He later laid the foundation stone for a multi-level parking complex at Khilwat, to be built at a cost of Rs 30 crore.Kiran Reddy also inaugurated the Salar-e-Millat Salahuddin Owaisi sports complex built for Rs 2.84 crore.The complex has a swimming pool, gymnasiums, courts for badminton, boxing hall and table tennis.
