CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has stayed the operation of clause 2.1.2 of the prospectus issued by the TN Open University (TNOU) for admission of students for Bachelor Preparatory Programme. The First Bench comprising Chief Justice MY Eqbal and Justice TS Sivagnanam, which granted the interim stay today, made it clear that no candidate should be admitted for obtaining a degree without having any Plus Two or higher secondary qualification. The prospectus said that those who had no basic education and qualification but had completed 18 years of age might undergo the six-months Bachelor Preparatory Programme and on completing the same, they would become eligible for admission into under-graduate programmes.The stay was based on a PIL filed by advocate S Sathia Chandran.
