BANGALORE: Councillors from the Congress Party opposed the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP)’s proposal to call for fresh tenders for garbage collection in the city.According to the proposal, for every three wards, one tender would be offered and the total cost would add up to Rs 350 crore.When the proposal was discussed in the meeting, Congress councillors expressed their disapproval.Former mayor K Chandrashekhar said that there were 96 conditions in the proposal that need to be reviewed.He further said, this proposal should have been introduced earlier, giving the Opposition sufficient time to prepare.M Udayashankar, Opposition Leader, BBMP, said that all the members in the council had earlier recommended the proposal to float tenders ward wise.Padmanabha Reddy, Opposition Leader, JDS, said, “First implement this proposal in one or two wards and see if it works.”
