HYDERABAD: Waking upon a rainy morning parents were at a loss whether to send their children to school or not. The Telangana Students Joint Action Committee had called for a shutdown of educational institutions to protest the Centre’s delay in taking a decision on separate statehood for Telangana. Coming within a week of a two-day bandh called in Telangana, parents were not sure whether schools would obey the shutdown call. The bandh evoked a partial response from schools and colleges in the city. While some schools and colleges declared a holiday, many private schools and colleges conducted classes as usual. As was to be expected there were no classes at Osmania University, where more than 30 students are taking part in a fast-unto-death. All government degree and junior colleges remained closed.
