Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 74 on Tuesday, with BJP-led NDA leaders showering wishes for the leader and praising his leadership and vision for India’s growth across sectors.

To celebrate his birthday with social works, the BJP launched the ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ initiative that will end on October 2, marking Gandhi Jayanti. For the fortnight-long campaign, the party has constituted a nine-member committee, headed by national general secretary Sunil Bansal, to oversee the initiative.

Party president JP Nadda will inaugurate a blood donation camp in New Delhi and launch an exhibition highlighting Prime Minister Modi’s life and contributions today, marking the start of the ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ initiative.

Under ‘Sewa Pakhwada,’ the party plans to conduct social service events including blood donation camps, plantation drives, cleanliness drives in and around schools, free health camps for elderly women, events for children and also events to felicitate the participants of the recently concluded Paralympics in Paris. This initiative has been held every year on the occasion of PM Modi’s birthday since 2014.

PM Modi’s Schedule For September 17

The Prime Minister, for whom the special day will be a working day, will visit Odisha to launch the government’s flagship women-centric initiative, Subhadra Yojana, besides other railway and national highway projects during his visit to the eastern state on Tuesday.

PM Modi’s visit to Odisha on his 74th birthday would be the first after he visited the state for the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on June 12 following a thumping victory of the BJP in the state assembly polls.

He will arrive at Bhubaneswar airport at 11.00 AM from Ahmedabad by a special IAF aircraft and leave for Gadakana Basti by road at 11.05 AM. He is scheduled to reach the slum area at 11.15 AM and interact with PMAY-Urban beneficiaries for half an hour.

Following interaction with beneficiaries, PM Modi is scheduled to depart Gadakana Basti at 11.50 AM and move towards Janata Maidan where he will dedicate Mohan Charan Majhi-led BJP government’s ‘much-anticipated’ Subhadra Yojana for women beneficiaries of Odisha.

Under the scheme, named after Goddess Subhadra, the sister of Lord Balabhadra and Lord Jagannath, all eligible women between the age of 21-60 years would receive ₹ 50,000 over five years between 2024-25 and 2028-29.

An amount of ₹ 10,000 per annum would be credited in two instalments directly to their accounts. The initiative is expected to cover more than 1 crore women. PM Modi would initiate the fund transfer into the bank accounts of more than 10 lakh women during the day, the officials said.

After the programme, Modi is scheduled to depart the venue at 1.05 PM and leave for Bhubaneswar airport. He will reach the airport at 1.20 PM and return to Delhi by the IAF flight at 1.25 PM. He is scheduled to land at Delhi airport at 3.35 PM.
