A Section Commander of CPI (Maoists) in Porahat, Tunia Horo alias Zokhim was on Sunday arrested with arms and ammunition from Tebo police station area in naxal-hit West Singhbhum district, a senior police officer said.
Acting on a tip-off, the district police launched a massive search operation in the early hours and apprehended Horo from near Kundruguttu Residential School when he was returning to Porahat from Khunti, where he had gone to visit family members, Superintendent of Police, NK Singh said.
Singh said Horo, a native of Sangoor under Karra police station of adjoining Khunti district, had country-made pistol, live cartridge, a diary and mobile phone in his possession.
Horo was an accused in eight Maoist-related incidents in West Singhbhum including killing of six persons in Kodaburu under Sonua police station, setting afire six vehicles belonging to a road construction company in Ulidih police station area in 2012, among others, he said.
Singh said Horo, a matriculate, used to maintain a diary and had mentioned each Maoists-related incident he had taken part in it.
As per the diary, the ultra group had formed "code words" while they executed any plan and described police as "Mahua", he said, adding, further interrogation was on.
