Mumbai: Pravin Mahajan, held on the charge of murdering his elder brother and BJP General Secretary Pramod Mahajan, has refused to take home food in jail despite a court granting him permission.
Pravin refused to take home food and preferred to have the food offered to him by jail authorities, his lawyer Nandkumar Rajurkar said on Tuesday.
According to the lawyer Pravin is quite satisfied with the food provided to him by the jail authorities and perhaps wanted to save his family members from the trouble of bringing him food in the jail twice every day.
Pravin has been remanded to judicial custody till May 17.
On last occasion, the court had allowed him to take home food. The lawyer also said that the family members of Pravin had not visited him in the jail since his arrest on April 22 last when he had shot at his brother Pramod.
However, Pravin's wife Sarangi is likely to visit Pramod's house in a day or two as the 13 day mourning period has ended.
After which, she may meet Pravin in jail, he said.
