New Delhi: The Hindi film industry has a fascination for the song 'Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram'. The song has been used in even those films which were not based on the life and times of Mahatma Gandhi.
Once the song fetched the makers of 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' some problems when a group of people objected towards the use of 'Raghupati Raghav' in the film, however it was later resolved.
These days, Bollywood's obsession with 'Raghupati Raghav' is more visible than ever as the song is getting featured in films after film. Recently, three films have showcased the different versions of the same song.
The first film in 2013 to feature this song was Prakash Jha's 'Satyagraha' which focussed on the life of an anti-corruption crusader. The composers of the title song used the famous song to suit the new age audience.
Similarly, Apoorva Lakhia used the same lines to enhance the value of the background during the action sequences in 'Zanjeer'. Ram Charan plays a tough cop in the film who doesn't hesitate in taking the law in his own hands, and a jazzy version of the song plays in the backdrop whenever he does so.
The latest film to join the bandwagon is Rakesh Roshan's much awaited film 'Krrish 3'. The film stars Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles and is the next film in the series of 'Koi Mil Gaya' and 'Krrish'. The promoters of the film have released a new song promo which shows Hrithik and Priyanka dancing on a song which goes like 'Raghupati raghav raja ram, non stop party, aaj ki party celebrations tere naam.'
It seems the trend is here to stay and we are going to watch more versions of 'Raghupati Raghav'. At least the audience is remembering Mahatma Gandhi this way.####
