Rajasthan Health Minister Rajendra Rathore on Monday directed all the medical colleges of the state to form a separate emergency faculty and trauma centres to cater to the needs of patients in emergency ward.
The minister also said the government was mulling re-employing senior doctors after their retirement as well as raising their retirement age to fill vacant posts in the health department.
Addressing a high-level meeting with principals of medical colleges, superintendent of hospitals and senior bureaucrats, Rathore said the emergency faculty will be created on "top priority".
The minister, who reviewed the free medicine and diagnostic services in the government hospitals in Jaipur, said a scheme to 'Adopt a Ward' by any social organisation should be encouraged. Stressing on better facilities for doctors doing internship in the wards of government hospitals, the minister said the interns should be given practical training while they do house job, and be employed in a proper way.
