Mumbai, May 12: Rajpal Yadav entered the film industry as an actor who went on to win several hearts with his funny acts on screen.
But this time around he has decided to step behind the camera. Confused? Well, Rajpal is all set to wield megaphone. The actor has already finalised the title of the film. It will be called Ata Pata Lapata which will go on the floors in a couple of months. Rajpal reveals, "I have written the script of Ata Pata Lapata and I am going to direct it too. Right now, I am working on the final draft of the script."
It so seems that Rajpal doesn't want to take any risk with his directorial project. Thus he has decided to produce it as well. Having acted in more than 150 films in the last 10 years or so, the actor now feels confident about his directorial skills too. "As an actor, I have done so many films and obviously being on the sets helps you understand the way a film is shot."
There have been many instances in the past where character actors have turned filmmakers. The latest entrant being Parmeet Sethi who made his directorial debut in direction with Badmaash Company. Even character actor Neeraj Vora turned to direction later in his career.
When asked if he will focus only on direction he said, "I came here for acting and that will never stop. I will continue to focus on what I am good at. But if there is anything that excites me apart from acting, I will do it."
Rajpal Yadav's latest film Kushti, which also stars the renowned wrestler Khali, is up for release this Friday.
