COIMBATORE: A police team from Chennai on Thursday took into custody Ravanan, the jailed relative of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s former aide Sasikala Natarajan, after executing a prisoner on transit warrant.Ravanan, who was lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison on charges of abduction and extortion, is wanted by the Chennai police in connection with a cheating case registered in their jurisdiction. The accused will be produced in the Alandur  court in suburban Chennai on Friday. It is learnt that the Chennai police will seek permission for his custodial interrogation. Ravanan was taken out of the Coimbatore Central Prison after the Chief Judicial Magistrate M Sreenivasan gave his nod.A minor commotion prevailed for a few minutes when the police refused permission to an advocate to interact with Ravanan when the latter was brought in a van to the court premises.Meanwhile, the bail petition filed by Ravanan was adjourned to Monday by the principal district judge N Authinathan. The court directed the police to file its response to the bail petition on Monday.Another petition filed by the accused before the Mettupalayam judicial magistrate court seeking ‘A’ class facilities in the prison too was adjourned to Monday.After Ravanan was arrested on January 27, the Central Crime Branch of the Chennai Police had registered a case against him based on a complaint lodged by a Tirupur-based realtor R Krishnamoorthy. The complainant had alleged that he paid `1 crore to Ravanan after the latter promised him to get a sand quarry mining licence. But Ravanan failed to either get him the licence or repay the money.
