London: Wayne Rooney is making a "perfect recovery" from his broken foot, according to England's team doctor.
Rooney broke a bone in his right foot on April 29 playing for Manchester United in the Premier League.
Rooney will have another scan on Thursday to assess his recovery ahead of the June 9-July 9 World Cup.
"Everything points to a perfect recovery," England doctor Leif Sward was quoted as saying in Monday's The Sun newspaper.
"I have the highest hopes for Rooney and the World Cup."
Rooney was not expected to be fit for England's Group B games against Paraguay on June 10, Trinidad and Tobago on June 15 and Sweden on June 20 but could be ready for the knockout stages if England advances.
Rooney has been riding a bicycle and spending time in an oxygen chamber to speed up recovery, but hasn't kicked a ball yet.
"He is not allowed to do that or anything else that could make his foot worse before Thursday's examination," Sward said. "But he can put pressure on his foot now with the special protection he is wearing.
"I hope everything has healed well and I can say everything points in that direction. This healing process has been very, very good."
