MYSORE: Home Minister R Ashok said on Monday that Rs 108 crore would be granted this year for the modernisation of the Police Department with latest technology and weapons. Admitting that cyber crime, naxalism and terrorism might increase in the future, Ashok said that like India, many other countries are striving to contain these problems.
"Innocent people have joined the naxal movement and plans have been made to bring them back to normal life. The government is working in this direction and police personnel play a major role in this regard," he added. He was speaking after attending the 30th passing out parade of gazetted probationers at Karnataka Police Academy (KPA) in Nazarbad. Most of them received awards for their outstanding performances during the training. The Minister also received the guard of honour from the gazetted probationers.
