London: Natalya Antyukh stormed to the women's 400 metres hurdles Olympic gold on Wednesday.

The Russian posted a personal best of 52.70 seconds for gold, holding off Lashinda Demus of the US, who took silver in 52.77 seconds.

Zuzana Hejnova of the Czech Republic won the bronze in 53.38 seconds.

It is Antyukh's second Olympic medal after taking the bronze in Athens in the 400 metres flat.

Defending champion Melaine Walker of Jamaica crashed out in the heats.
