Security Forces Kill 5 Terrorists in J&K's Kupwara, 2 Jawans Injured
The army official said when the security forces were conducting a search operation, the holed-up militants fired at them, triggering a gunbattle.

Five terrorists were gunned down in an encounter with security forces on Saturday in north Kashmirs Kupwara district that also left two soldiers injured.

Acting on specific information about the presence of terrorists in Drugmulla village of Kupwara, 81 km from Srinagar, a joint team of police and army cordoned-off the area, an army official said.

He said as the security forces were conducting a search operation, the holed-up terrorists fired at them, triggering a gunbattle.

During the encounter, five terrorists were killed, the official said, adding two soldiers also received injuries and they have been shifted to a hospital for treatment. Their condition is stable, the official said.

The identity of the slain terrorists is being ascertained, the official said, adding five weapons have been recovered from the encounter site.
