Durgapur: At least six people died after they were trapped in the Chanchali colliery mines on Thursday, according to official sources.

A rescue team of five members had reached the spot and recovered the bodies of the victims.

The police have reached the spot and have started conducting investigation.
However, the ECL authorites were tightlipped on the whole issue and have not yet confirmed the total number of workers present in the mines when the incident took place.
