HYDERABAD: Saifabad police released the photograph of a man who was suspected to have stolen money from an ATM of a private bank. Police had found Rs 5.37 lakh missing from the cash chest of an ATM at Banjara Hills on April 25.The sketch was released after examining CCTVs and gleaming inputs from people who withdrew money from the ATM on the same day. “We suspect, a youngster might have been involved in the theft from Axis Bank’s ATM. If anyone notice a person resembling the sketch, please alert Safiabad police by calling at 9490616341,’’ Harshaverdhan Raj, officer on special duty (OSD), said. Chandra Sekhar, a 32-year-old employee at a private firm, first alerted Saifabad police stating about the theft. “Stayanarayana, an ATM executive, rushed to the spot and found the ATM chest door broken. CCTV wires were disconnected and machine’s cassettes and presenter were damaged. As per the machine’s count 16,15,500 lakh was left out of total Rs 21,25,800”, the OSD said. On April 25, at around 9.30 pm, some unidentified person had broken the ATM machine at road number 1 of Banjara Hills. The accused entered the ATM and pulled down the shutter to masquerade the theft into a repairing work. But, the suspicious action attracted a customer’s attention who had gone there to draw cash, he, then, alerted the police. When bank staff with police’s assistance opened the ATM, they found the cash chest open and the said amount missing.
