New Delhi: Three opposition parties on Sunday came out in defence of former external affairs minister Natwar Singh.

Samajwadi Party (SP), Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and All India Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) announced that they are likely to bring a breach of privilege motion against the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the leak of the Pathak Authority report that indicted Natwar.

Natwar himself chose not to react to reports that he has tabled a notice for a similar motion against the PM.

SP general secretary Amar Singh, whose party has been carrying on a campaign against the Congress, met Natwar on Sunday with messages of support from his party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa.

Thirty-three MPs of the three parties are likely to bring a breach of privilege motion against the PM in the Rajya Sabha on Monday and raise the issue in the House to ask the Government how the leak occurred, he said.

"We will possibly bring a privilege notice against the PM," said Amar Singh.

He declined to provide details of the messages of support sent to Natwar by the chiefs of the SP, TDP and AIADMK.

Asked if the PM was to blame for the leak, he said, "The PM is the head of the Government and even if anybody in the Prime Minister’s Office is responsible for this, he has to take the blame."

What's your reaction?
