BANGALORE: The Bangalore Traffic Police are launching a special drive at 10 places across the city from Thursday to remove sun films from cars free of cost to implement the Supreme Court’s directive banning extra films of any kinds on car windows.The places are: BRV Grounds in Shivajinagar, City Armed Reserve (South) Grounds in Adugodi, City Armed Reserve (Headquarters) Grounds on Mysore Road, Malleswaram Grounds in Malleswaram, Madhavan Park at Jayanagar, Toll Plaza on Bangalore International Airport Road, Yelahanka Police Station, BDA Complex, Indiranagar East Football Grounds and Frazer Town.The rule, which came into effect from May 4, will be enforced strictly as the Traffic Police had given a period of 15 days for car owners to get additional films removed.However, many car owners in the city want to wait and watch even though the accessory dealers, who are now selling transparent films stating that they are certified by the police.“Not many people are coming in to get the film removed.We see around 10-12 cars everyday.Removal of sun films cost anything between `300 and `500, depending on the type of car,” said Satish Gowda, a car accessory dealer.
