KOZHIKODE: Despite the motor vehicle strike, the statewide launch of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s mass contact programme was given a splendid reception by the public here at the Malabar Christian College Ground on Saturday.Thousands from far-flung places of the district reached here by to file complaints and applications to the Chief Minister. More than 7,000 complaints have been received as part of the programme and various departments closed many files at the venue.“The mass contact programme is organised to realise the concept devolution of power to the people,” Chandy has said. He was delivering the inaugural address at the statewide mass contact programme here. “The Printing Director has been directed to arrange works for the binding units in Marad. The government is planning such projects in Nadapuram too,” Chandy said. The Santhinagar and Kothapallikandi rehabilitation projects would be completed soon. `3.5 crore has been allotted for conducting dredging in Kallai River. The renovation of Cancer Unit at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital is included in the budget, he added. He distributed pattayams and financial aid of around `1 crore. People who were unable to turn up can submit their applications to the officials in the district on November 9.
