Lucknow: With the arrest of 14 persons from the state capital and Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force on Sunday claimed to have busted an inter-state gang allegedly involved in helping people pass the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) exams using fraudulent means.
While eight persons were arrested from Lucknow, six including the kingpin were arrested from Ghaziabad by the STF and local police teams during the SSC exams that were held on Sunday, official sources said in Lucknow.
The arrests were made following complaints that a gang promising successes in SSC and others exams by charging hefty amount was operating in the state.
“The gang members used solvers (experts of subjects) to appear for a particular candidate and use unfair means for ensuring selection by charging Rs three lakhs to Rs 25 lakhs”, STF sources said.
The king pin of the gang Anil Singh, a resident of Bagpat was also arrested by the STF from Ghaziabad. During interrogation he told STF that the gang used to manage roll numbers in a series in which a solver was also planted.
Singh also said that answers of different sets of question papers were messaged to the candidates from mobile phones using blue tooth and other devices.
An FIR was lodged in Aminabad and Sahibabad police stations of Lucknow and Ghaziabad respectively.
