KOCHI: The Central Government has asked the state to send a proposal on the issue of deporting the Israeli couple, who were found to have violated visa norms, and for including them in blacklist.A communication issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, dated March 3, also grants permission to the state to deport the foreigners with immediate effect. The Centre has handed over the communication to State Attorney P Vijayaraghavan.The couple, Shneor Zalman Bernstein and his wife Yaffa Shendi Keing on Monday requested the Kerala High Court to allow them an honourable exit from the country, without any stigma attached. They also submitted that they will leave the country on March 13. The petitioners sought permission to place an affidavit on record, with regard to leaving the country. The hearing on the case was adjourned to Friday.The court directed the petitioners to report to the nearest police station daily and not to leave Fort Kochi without permission.The court allowed the Jewish couple to participate in prayers at the synagogue, but they are not permitted to conduct any religious activities at their residence.The court also examined the intelligence report submitted by the state and said that there were some suspicious elements in it. Justice S Siri Jagan made the observation while considering a petition filed by the couple, challenging the deportation notice issued by Ernakulam District Collector.The couple was staying in a rented house on Rose Street, Fort Kochi. They have been in the country since March 3, 2010. After their visas expired on March 3, 2011, they left the country, and returned on new visas, on April 1, 2011.
