Stern action against violators of traffic rules

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Stringent action would be taken against those who violate traffic rules to prevent the increasing number of road accidents, Transport Minister V S Sivakumar said in a press release issued here on Saturday. As part of carrying out road safety awareness programmes through school students, steps have been taken to include the programme in the school syllabus. The enforcement wing of the Motor Vehicles Department would be strengthened and surveillance cameras would be installed in all districts. Accident review committees have been formed in the state as well as district levels. “The steps have been taken as part of the combined efforts of the Transport, Public Works and Home Departments to prevent road accidents,” the release said.
