Sujatha Case: Accused in judicial custody

MANGALORE: Former head of Applied Botany Department Professor Rasheed Ahmed, who was arrested in connection with the Sujatha suicide case, was remanded to judicial custody up to June 4 by the Second Additional and District Sessions court on Thursday.Until then Prof Ahmed, who complained of chest pain during his first appearance before the judge on Wednesday, was allowed to recuperate in the district Wenlock Hospital.On Thursday, Ivan D'Souza moved a bail application on behalf of Prof Ahmed, while the public prosecutor too filed an application opposing the move to grant bail for the accused. The hearing of the bail application was posted for Friday, Ivan D'souza told.
