BANGALORE: The government has decided to provide Supermax Security or super maximum security at the four central jails in the state - for those in Bangalore, Belgaum, Bellary and Mysore. Speaking at an All India Conference of Directors General/ Inspectors General of Prisons here on Saturday, which was attended by 35 heads of prisons from 28 states and 7 Union territories, Minister for Prisons A Narayanaswamy said that the government was considering to enhance security at all prisons. He, however, did not elaborate on the measures to be taken by the government to stem anti-social activities inside prisons. The minister detailed that the government will install sophisticated jammers to stop usage of mobile phones. “The Union government has not given any directions to the state to invite tenders to buy jammers. The process would have been over had the task been left to us.”
