If you have been a couch potato recently, glued to your TV, you are sure to have noticed the newest Nescafe Sunrise ad in which actor Suriya promises his wife, Jyothika, to keep her sunrise alive for as long as she wants. In a bid to keep that promise, Suriya and the Sunrise crew tried to recreate the sunrise post sunset at the Besant Nagar beach on Thursday. Crowds flocked the beach awaiting a miracle to happen. But as a big, almost white balloon rose to the sky, representing the sun, they were left a tad disasppointed. However, Suriya's uncanny charm made up for it. "This is the first time that something like this is happening in Asia," said Suriya, at a pre-event session. "Even if Jyo wants me to take her to the moon, I think that the Nescafe team will be able to do it," he joked. Symbolising a growing preference for the Sunrise brand of coffee and the upcoming sun and harvest festival of Pongal, the event also marked the acknowledgement of the Nescafe Plan. As part of the Plan, a team of scientists from France will get in touch with coffee farmers from Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. "The team from France will use R & D (research and development) to help farmers sustain their crops," informed Suriya. The team will also help farmers understand various planting techniques that will help them get "better earning and lifestyle", according to the actor.
