THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thousands of complaints regarding financial aid, birth and death certificates, building tax, monetary aid from the CM’s relief fund and a host of other issues will be dealt with at the mass contact programmes planned at the taluk level this week.In Thiruvananthapuram taluk, the programme is scheduled for Wednesday at the Priyadarshini Hall, Fort, from 9.30 am to 5 pm. Deputy Collector (Land Acquisitions) Padmakumari Amma has been appointed nodal officer, ADM J Mohammed Mustafa told a press conference here. Close to 5,000 complaints have been filed in the taluk.Close to 27,000 complaints await settlement in the Neyyattinkara taluk, where the adalat will be held on Thursday. The authorities hope for a settlement in at least 30 per cent of the cases. Deputy Collector (Disaster Management), G Mohanan Pillai has been appointed nodal officer for the taluk.In Nedumangad, the programme will be held from 9.30 am to 5 pm at the Taluk Conference Hall on Friday. Deputy Collector (Land Records) Sheeba George is the nodal officer. The authorities plan to settle half of the 8,500 complaints during the adalat.The mass contact programme at Chirayinkeezhu will be organised on Saturday at the Chirayinkeezhu Taluk Conference Hall. Around 3,500 complaints are pending and half the number are expected to be settled. RDO V Jayaprakash is coordinating the programme in this taluk.State-wide mass contact programmes were announced as part of the 100-day action plan of the UDF government, but were delayed owing to the visit of President Pratibha Patil, the inauguration of the rice at Re 1 programme held in the district and the ‘pattaya mela’, and the change of Governor.With all the major functions out of the way, District Collector P M Francis had finalised the adalats for this week.MPs, MLAs and other government officials will participate in the four-day programme. Complaints about any government department can be lodged with the authorities during the adalats.
