Teacher's Day: Uttarakhand Guv, Puducherry CM greet scholars on Radhakrishnan birth anniversary
Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi and Puducherry chief minister N Rangasamy greeted teachers.

Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi greeted academicians on the eve of Teachers Day that marks the birth anniversary of the country's second President, noted teacher and thinker Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Congratulating teachers of Uttarakhand honoured with the President's award for their contribution in the field of education, Qureshi said in this age of infomation technology, the role of teachers had become more challenging as now it was their responsibility to encourage students to follow their creativity and original ideas.

Inculcating values like patience, discipline, sensitivity and compassion in their students is a very important part of a teacher's work," he said.

Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy also greeted the teaching community on the eve of the Teacher's Day synchronising with the birth anniversary of former President Dr S Radhakrishnan.

Rangasamy said teachers were engaged in moulding tomorrow's citizens and transfering knowledge. A country with high standard of discipline and excellent level of knowledge would reach greater heights.
