VELLORE: The Janata Trade Union of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) mooted the formation of a team of ex-servicemen to curb the theft of electricity. A resolution to this effect was passed at its state-level general body meeting held at Katpadi on Sunday. Reinforcing a suggestion made by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa before the polls, the union pledged support to any initiative taken to prevent electricity theft. They also suggested that the TNEB dispense with receiving payments from consumers through banks, as daily payments made directly will afford them income on a daily basis. In order to make the payment quicker, they have also suggested that an efficient computerised system with quicker printing be incorporated at all counters. The meet was chaired by the Union’s State president S Elango.
