New Delhi: Founder-Editor of Tehelka Tarun Tejpal is likely to move the High Court in the sexual assault case against him. The legal advisors of Tejpal have suggested him that he should seek change in the investigating agency, said sources on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, the National Commission for Women (NCW) asked the Mumbai Police to provide security to the girl, who alleged sexual assault by Tejpal, as she has in her statement said that she is being intimidated by a member of Tejpal's family.
Mumbai Police in a response to the NCW said that so far the girl has not approached them with a complaint or has not informed them of the incident but the Mumbai Police is there to protect the girl.
The rape survivor had on Saturday claimed that there is pressure on her to withdraw the case. In her first public statement on the allegations, the rape survivor had stated that Tejpal has been putting pressure on her family through a member of his own family. She claimed that Tejpal's family approached her mother demanding information on whom she was consulting in the case and whether she was ready for a bargain.
Tejpal had allegedly sexually assaulted a woman journalist during Tehelka 'Think' Festival in Goa two weeks ago. While Tejpal has so far not spoken on the matter after it came in public, his internal mail on Wednesday called it a "a bad lapse of judgment, an awful misreading of the situation."
Tejpal stepped down on Wednesday for a period of six months after allegations of sexual assault were made against him by the woman colleague with Shoma Chaudhury taking charge in his absence. Sources said that the woman journalist had written a very detailed mail to Chaudhury reconstructing the alleged incidents.
