The agitation over a separate state for Telangana entered its 23rd day on Wednesday.

Hyderabad: The officials of Excise Department from the Telangana region are slated to join the agitation over the issue of separate statehood.

The officials have decided to go on a two-day strike starting Wednesday, the 23rd day of the ongoing agitation that has crippled Andhra Pradesh.

Liquor manufacturing is also likely to take a hit.

According to reports, if the strike does not end, the hotel industry may suffer huge losses.

The state has already been facing an unprecedented power crisis as a result of the ongoing indefinite general strike.

Heavy power cuts are being imposed across sectors in the state with industries and agriculture being the worst hit. While the duration of power shutdown in urban areas is four hours, it is six hours in district headquarters and about 10 hours in rural areas.
