The email to Air-India threatens explosions at the airports on Jan 12.

New Delhi: An email threatening to blow up Indian airports in January has been received at a call centre of the national carrier Air India in neighbouring Gurgaon, airline sources said on Monday.

The call centre received the email on Saturday which threatened explosions at the airports on January 12, they said.

An FIR was lodged by Assistant Manager (Security, Air India) Harish Masand stating that the airline received the threat mail on the email address '[email protected]' at around 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The email said there will be a blast in Indian airports on January 12, 2008, sources said.

The CISF, which is in charge of the security of all prominent airports in the country, has already increased the number of personnel, a senior CISF official said.

The official said the personnel have been alerted about the email threat and checking has been intensified besides monitoring the movement of people coming to airports.

The security at the Delhi airport has also been increased as the capital was warned about the possibility of militants striking terror in the capital.
