HYDERABAD: In a bizarre incident, a group of five robbers attacked a realtor from Puttaparthi under the impression that he had in his possession the late Sathya Sai Baba’s money and when they couldn’t find anything except nine tolas of gold, left the man’s place after administering him first-aid!The incident took place on the outskirts of Tumkunta village under the Shamirpet police limits late on Saturday night. The realtor in question, 58-year-old Narayana Raju, hails from Puttaparthi and has settled here. According to the police, around 1.15 a.m, the robbers knocked on his doors. When Raju enquired as to what they wanted, they asked for water. Raju was armed with a stick when he opened the door but before he could realise, the robbers barged in and hit him on the head with a stick. They also sprinkled chilli powder in his eyes.Besides Raju, his wife, two daughters and an elderly woman were in the spacious house at the time of the attack. The miscreants demanded money from them and ransacked the entire house. Failing to find wads of currency notes, they took the mangalasutram of one of Raju’s daughters and a necklace from the almirah.“They did not behave rudely or injured other family members. Instead of snatching the mangalasutram, they asked the woman to remove it from her neck and took it away,’’ Shamirpet SI Ganesh Patel said. The miscreants also administered first-aid to the injured realtor. “The offenders kept ice cubes on Raju’s head as he was bleeding,’’ Ganesh Patel said adding that the intruders spoke in Telangana accent and were aged around 25-30.
