Three end lives in separate incidents in city

BANGALORE: In three separate incidents, three persons including a police head constable and a woman, have committed suicide.Dejected over health problems, Rajanna (50), a City Armed Reserve (CAR) police head constable, committed suicide at his residence in Jarakabande police quarters in Krishnananda Nagar in Nandini Layout police limits, on Saturday night.Rajanna had diabetes and other health issues, which might have driven him to take the extreme step, the police said. A post mortem was conducted at M S Ramaiah Hospital on Sunday.In other incident, Archana, a 25-year-old housewife, committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence.Dowry harassment is said to be the reason for the incident and police have arrested her husband, Umamahesh and in-laws in this connection.The incident was reported in Bhyraweshwaranagar near Nagarabhavi in Chandra Layout police station limits on Sunday morning.According to the police, Archana, a BCom graduate had married Umamahesh about one-and-half-years ago and had a six month old boy. Though her parents had given dowry during marriage, her husband and inlaws allegedly tortured her to bring more dowry. Dejected by this, she hanged herself to the ceiling fan at her room on Sunday morning, when Umamahesh had gone out.Based on a death due to dowry harassment case filed by Achana’s father Harikrishna, the four accused have been arrested. Chandra Layout police have registered a case and further investigations are on.Meanwhile, in another incident reported in Kanakapura police limits in Ramnagaram district, Nagesh (23) whose marriage was scheduled on Monday, ended his life by hanging himself to a tree in front of his house. The incident was reported in Jakkegowdana Doddi village, on Sunday morning.According to the police, Nagesh was engaged to a girl from Malavalli taluk. He had allegedly asked a bike as dowry and the girl’s parents had purchased it for him.But, Nagesh’s brothers questioned him about demanding a bike and it was followed by a quarrel.It is suspected that Nagesh might have committed suicide upset over the issue, the police said.
