Three LeT Terrorists Involved in Sarpanch's Murder Killed in Srinagar Encounter
Three more terrorists are expected to be hiding in the Nowgam area of the city, where a search operation is underway.

Three militants, involved in the killing of Sarpanch Sameer Bhat, died in an encounter in Nowgam in Srinagar city on Wednesday.

The three militants were killed after firing was exchanged with the police immediately after the locality was sealed and a search operation started.

Nowgam is a posh locality with a set of plush houses. It is a link between Srinagar and districts of Pulwama and Budgam and police says militants from the two districts often carry out sudden attacks before returning to their hideout.

Police said the trio were involved in the recent killing of Sarpanch Sameer Bhat. Bhat was shot last week twice in his chest at his home in Khanmoh on the outskirts of Srinagar. He was immediately shifted to the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.

The killing of the militants come hours after police and army teams eliminated a Lashkar operative in Charsoo area of Awantipora of Pulwama district.

In the last seven days, 11 militants have been killed in seven different encounters.
