BANGALORE: When a lot of PU students are in a jubilant mood over their scores in their final examinations, there were a few who were not that lucky.Bharath, 18, was one such student, who committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence at 4th Cross, Chamrajpet 5th Main here on Wednesday afternoon.Bharath was a Commerce student at Surana College in Jayanagar. According to police, Bharath went to a cyber cafe to check his results, and he had failed in three subjects. He returned home and hanged himself in a room. The incident came to light when his parents came home around 2.30 pm. Bharath’s father Gunashekhar works in a jewellery shop.Sitara, 17, a Commerce student of Government PU College in Begur of Chamarajanagar district, also committed suicide by setting herself afire while she was alone at home as she could not clear the PU examinations. She was rushed to a hospital, where she succumbed to burns later. Sources said Sitara was hoping to secure 95 per cent marks. Four other girls from different colleges in the city Mysore, who failed crack the PUC examinations, consumed poison and are battling for life in the same hospital. In Tumkur, Janardhana Gowda, 17, a student of Vidyavahini College, who failed in Mathematics, ended his life by hanging himself at Devarayapatna on Wednesday.
