TIRUCHY: Kalaignar Arivalayam, the DMK headquarters here, has encroached upon a private land and is using it for parking vehicles, according to a complaint filed at the special grievance meet on land grabbing held here on Monday. The petitioner, G R Suresh Kumar (52), son of Ramamurthy of V N Nagar, claimed that 1.86 acres of the land lying behind the DMK headquarters was his ancestral property.“I have allocated the 1.86-acre land to lay a pathway for the houses behind the DMK headquarters as the families living there had bought their land from me. The pathway leads to the main road adjacent to the Kalaignar Arivalayam”, Suresh said.He said the land was now being used by the DMK headquarters for parking the functionaries’ vehicles and the residents of the area were not allowed to use the pathway now, he told reporters.Rajagopal, a businessman close to former minister K N Nehru’s brother Ramajayam and Selvendran, brother-in-law of DMK strongman Kudamuritti Sekar, had claimed that the land belonged to them and threatened the petitioner with dire consequences, he said.He added that K N Ramajayam, the Nehru’ brother threatened him that he would ask the police to book him in a ganja case.
